Christy Woods, Senior Outreach Manager, Americans for Quality Health Care

Christy Woods is a Senior Outreach Manager for the Americans for Quality Health Care (AQHC) project at the National Partnership for Women & Families. The central goal of the AQHC project is to organize a broad-based network of consumer advocates to promote transparency, performance measurement, and public reporting throughout the health care system.

Prior to joining the National Partnership, Woods was the Program Coordinator for the Center for a Healthy Maryland at the Maryland State Medical Society (MedChi). She provided training and consultation to identify high priority needs and assure quality of care in delivery of services to women, infants and children. Woods also conducted statewide and regional meetings with the Maryland Fetal and Infant Mortality Program and assisted the Baltimore City Healthy Start Program in implementing the Prevention of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Project.

Before joining MedChi, Woods managed two consecutive national initiatives funded through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Covering Kids in Springfield, MA and Covering Kids & Families in Springfield, MA and the District of Columbia. These initiatives promoted health access through Medicaid, State Children’s Health Insurance Programs and other public programs/services. While working on the two national initiatives Woods was instrumental in establishing several outreach programs including a local telephone hotline for city residents and the school lunch program in Springfield, MA. In the District of Columbia she integrated health screening and enrollment for Medicaid and the Alliance Program into the Case Management Practice of seven neighborhood-based agencies strategically located throughout DC.

Prior to her work with the Covering Kids / Covering Kids & Families Initiatives, Woods has worked with the City of Springfield Health & Human Services Department and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health within the Maternal and Child Health Bureaus.

Woods received a B.A. in English from American International College in Springfield, MA. She resides in Prince George’s County, Maryland with her two children.
