Health Care » Reform

Our nation’s health care system is failing women and families. The time for health care reform is now.

The skyrocketing costs are straining the budgets of families that are already stretched thin. More than 46 million Americans are uninsured, and those who can afford coverage face limited choice, high out of pocket costs, rate discrimination and, too often, care that is less than high quality.

Despite its high costs, Americans aren’t getting what they pay for in terms of quality and health outcomes. It’s time to start putting patients first. This means providing coverage for everyone and changing our delivery system so that patients, not providers, are at the center. Doing that will require comprehensive insurance market reform, subsidies to working families to help purchase coverage, a system that pays for value rather than volume, and a stronger health care infrastructure.

For women and their families, there is no more urgent priority than health care reform. America needs a health care system that provides affordable choices, comprehensive coverage, and access to health professionals and institutions that deliver the highest quality care, including the full range of reproductive health services.

This is a moment of extraordinary opportunity for the nation, when a genuine transformation of our health care system is finally possible. We must act boldly to achieve the results America’s women and families deserve.
