For most of us, the Supreme Court may appear to be an elite body of lawyers far removed from the issues of the real world. But many of the rights that we hold sacred would not be in place without the decisions made by the Supreme Court throughout our nation’s history.
The stakes are especially high for women; remedies for discrimination and sexual harassment, a woman’s right to make family planning decisions, and equal and full application of the Family and Medical Leave Act are among rights that have been secured by the Supreme Court.
Our nation needs Supreme Court Justices who will uphold women's rights, civil rights and our right to privacy — not those who will turn back the clock.
The National Partnership has a long history of monitoring Supreme Court and other judicial nominees. We will continue to work to ensure that the next Justice to the Supreme Court is committed to equal justice principles for all Americans.
